Lord Heinrich Von Swartzenberg's Page
Welcome to my page. I am the Household's Webmeister and one of Herzog Sir Mathias' first squires. I have been in the SCA for close to 15 years. I first fought under the banner of His Grace, Duke Sir Mark Von Neumannsgrund as a Man-at-Arms.
Heinrich's story
Heinrich von Swartzenberg was born in the late 12th century into a German merchant family. Having no interest in continuing the family business and knowing that he would always have to answer to his elder brother, he gathered up his belongings and joined up with a group of soldiers headed to the east into the Crusades for the Baltic region. He was taken under the tutelage of the Order of the Swordbrothers for training to become a soldier. During this time Heinrich first encountered the Teutonic Knights. He knew at once that he wanted to join this order. He was accepted as a man-at-arms and completed his training as such. After a short time, the unit Heinrich was part of was sent to reinforce holdings in Outremer. In the Holy Lands, he experienced many different cultures and ways of thinking. He also began to realize that there was more to being a Knight than using a sword. Heinrich eventually met up with and joined a household headed by a fellow German and Knight who shared his ideals. Heinrich now serves and trains under this knight until he is found worthy to become a Knight himself
